Abstract

Fly ash has also become quite renowned as an important by-product material from the combustion of coal  it finds various applications as an additive to both polymer composites and cementitious systems, primarily enhancing their mechanical properties including compressive strength, wear resistance, and resistance against sulphate penetration as well as reduced porosity resulting from pozzolanic reactions. This review focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and diversified applications of fly ash polymer composites, which include pore refinement and long-term stability. Advanced analytical techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), are essential in understanding the microstructure and hydration mechanisms of these composites.
